Attractions in North Shore
Hunter Valley
The Hunter Valley is known for two curiously diverse products - coal and wine. Wineries here date bak to the 1860s and you'll find many of Australia's best-known wine names here. There are more 40 vineyards in the Lower Hunter and others in the Upper Hunter. Generally these vineyards are open for tastings daily and many of them have picnic and barbeque facilities.
Newcastle - North Shore
Newcastle is NSW's second largest city and is considered to be the major industrial and commercial centre. Newcastle is a relaxed and friendly place. Newcastle is full of clean beaches, many with world class surfs. The main beach, Newcastle Beach is very just next to the centre of the town.
Byron Bay - North Shore
Byron Bay is one of the most attractive stop on the whole east coast. This is a relaxed little seaside town with superb beaches and agreat climate - warm in winter, hot in summer. Byron is the meeting place for alternative cultures and it is a surfing mecca. The surf below Cape Byron is just superb. Ther are good music venues and some great shops. Main Beach is the good swimming beach and sometimes has decent surf.
