Skin resurfacing with the CO2 laser and erbium: yag laser
Over the years our skin becomes exposed to many factors which cause unwelcome signs of ageing. Ultra-violet sun rays, the effects of smoking, the degeneration of collagen and other natural changes to the structure of our skin all play their part in causing fine lines, wrinkles and other skin irregularities on the skin's surface.
If you are now wishing for a safe and effective way to remove imperfections, Lasercare has the answers. As the country's leading specialist provider of skin laser treatment, Lasercare offers a wide range of treatments to both NHS and private patients at clinics throughout the UK. Through the expertise of our consultants, we offer the most advanced, safe and effective treatments possible. The latest laser treatment from Lasercare means our experts can safely eliminate many imperfections of the skin with the maximum of precision and care and the minimum of discomfort to our patients.
As specialists we are dedicated to providing the highest quality of treatment and aftercare at our clinics - all of which are registered and approved by the relevant local health authority.
What can be treated?
Most irregularities in the skin's surface -including fine lines, wrinkles, crow's feet, ' lipstick lines', acne and chicken pox scars, can be treated with laser.
How long does the treatment take?
Most treatment sessions last no more than an hour and you will be able to return home immediately after treatment. Most patients prefer to take some time out - about 7 - 14 days - from their usual work and social environment. This is because the normal response to treatment is a temporary reddening and crusting of the skin. This reaction is a positive sign that the skin is rejuvenating, some pinkness may remain for several weeks after treatment.
Is treatment safe?
Lasers have been used to help people improve the way they look since the mid 1980's. With the introduction of pulsed CO2 lasers and the Erbium: Yag laser, Lasercare now has the safest and most effective technology available to smooth out the skin. Treatment is only carried out by consultants and surgeons. If our consultants or surgeons feel that your condition may be unsuitable for laser treatment in any way, they will inform you immediately.
The consultation
Before treatment commences patients have a full consultation so that the consultant assigned to them can assess skin type and evaluate the condition to be treated. At the consultation a personal treatment programme is devised so that patients will know exactly what their particular treatment will involve, how long it will take and what it will cost. You are able to ask any questions you have about treatment and most importantly, about the result of treatment for individual conditions. Having had time to consider the advice and information given at your first consultation and if you have decided to proceed, a treatment session is arranged.
After treatment, there are further consultations at which your progress will be monitored and any further questions can be answered.
How does laser surgery work?
With the CO2 and the Erbium: YAG lasers. Our consultants and surgeons 'paint' the skin evenly with the laser light, removing fine lines and wrinkles and stimulating the replacement of older, damaged skin with youthful, smoother skin. These lasers are so accurate that deeper wrinkles and scars can be selected and treated separately.
