Lefkada Island Greece - Lefkada Greece - Tour and Travel guide Hotels Flights - diet, aesthetic surgery, travel, tour, hotels wellness, weight loss and fat burning tips

Until the 7th Century BC Lefkada constituted a peninsula of the western coast of Greece with which it was unified. The Corinthians cut the isthmus and separated it from the opposite shore.
Divided between island and mainland, Lefkada has a special charm. It's "trade-mark" are the impressive beaches with white sand and deep-blue waters.

Its villages, most of them mountainous, keep their traditions and charm, untouched by the increasing tourist trade during the past years.

The town of Lefkada is on the north-eastern side of the island. The bridge that connects it with Aetoloakarnania and the ruins of the Castle of Agia Mavra is our first picture of the island.
Beneath the castle stretches the white sandy beach from Gira to Ai' Giannis, about 7 Km. long.

The windmills, fish-taverns, cafeterias and ouzeries which we meet along the road complete the beauty of this scene.Inland you can find many picturesque villages, where the customs and traditions have been maintained and are practiced.
You can often see women here wearing their traditional costumes and "boles", their golden tinkling earrings.

The sea around Lefkada is embroidered by small and large islands, of which many are private property.
On all the surrounding islands we can find beautiful beaches ,while on Meganisi there are hotels and a few rooms for rent, where you can spend your relaxing holidays.
